Favorite Audit Tip

Understand proper DAW code use for both non-biologic and biologic medications. Utilizing DAW codes other than zero increases your audit risk; it is pertinent to know when a DAW code other than zero is truly warranted.

Also, download the PAAS National® app! It is an extremely helpful tool to help calculate days’ supplies for eye drops specific to PBM, quantities needed of various classes of medications, and even includes a Santyl calculator!

In high school, my first job was at the local grocery store chain pharmacy as a pharmacy technician. I continued to work as a pharmacy technician throughout my undergraduate career and while obtaining my PharmD from UW-Madison’s School of Pharmacy. After graduation, I continued to work in the capacity of retail pharmacist for 6 years until I got hired as an analyst with PAAS.

Independent pharmacy is in my blood. Both my great-grandfather and grandfather owned independent pharmacies in northern Wisconsin. I always had the dream of owning an independent pharmacy (with an old-fashioned soda fountain!), but I have quickly found being part of your independent pharmacy’s success story is even more rewarding for me. I look forward to being part of the trusted PAAS team that helps you navigate the waters of the ever-changing world of pharmacy audits and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse regulations.
